I`ve been remiss, no! I`ve been really remiss! I have to confess to being busy, we are onto our last 100 hoggs. So yesterday…………
Sheena and I, toddled off to ride in the Kershope Forest. Its owned by the Public, but managed by the Forestry Commission.
It sits just on the border of Cumbria, England and The Scottish Borders. And no Sheena`s horse is no giant! She is just further away!!Lol.
This is the main track, well one of them. Its an old Rail Track, used to supply the local Quarries in the area.
Sheena and Tiny! Half way round and the rain has started.
The ubiquitous river crossings! Tiny adores water, trouble is, I always get the impression he would roll!
Finally, the new saddle I got late last year! Its had a couple of rides, squeaks like hell! But is real comfy, and more to the point, Gracie is a lot more relaxed under it. Its the Billy Cook, Wade Arbuckle.
Great saddle. The ride ended with tea and a sandwich.
`Glad you could get out and have a ride! I have heard baby powder under the saddle works wonders for squeaks (of course so does use, lol)
ReplyDeleteHi Chrystal! Yes, me too, gonna try it. Use? I`ve had sheep coming out of every place recently! My horse has gone back to the wild!lol
DeleteSounds like fun even if it did rain. I don't mind getting wet as long as I'm already saddled and going. That saddle looks really comfy.I'm needing a new saddle as well...but alas it's not in the cards right now.Happy riding.
ReplyDeleteHi Janice, it is really comfy. I wouldnt have thought that a "hard" seat saddle would be so. But it is. I like the fact that there are no swells, and the fit for the horse is so much better.
DeleteBoy that Tiny is one hairy horse!
ReplyDeleteThe squeaks will go away eventually, I usually use Lexol Leather Conditioner on mine, and get it as far in to the inner workings and straps as I can.
Your right Shirley! Tiny is a typical Welsh Cob! He is on the last shed of the year, so he will soon be less so. He is young, only 6 or 7, but keen and willing.
DeleteLove Tiny!I have a pair of riding boots that squeak and I laugh how i feel like in the saddle a bit when out on a stroll.
ReplyDeleteWe have a saying over here? If the boots squeak, they ain`t paid for yet!!Lol.
DeleteWhat a wonderful place to take humans. Not sure about the wet stuff though. My human went walking in a forest on the scottish borders some years ago and got lost. Had to call the police to come rescue her and her pals.
ReplyDeleteHi Zoe!! I`m not surprised she got lost, its a real maze out here! Mind you, I have a fool proof way of finding my way home! Its called a Gracie! I leave food out for her at the trailer, so that she has to remember the way back to get it!!Lol
DeleteI was somewhere near where you describe with my mother and sister around 1995. We took walks in that area, can't remember where exactly, but we enjoyed our trip. Beautiful saddle.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan, Yes the saddle is cool! I treat myself! Its interesting that you had been there. Its a very beautiful place, about 30 minutes from me.
DeleteTiny is a cutie. I'm partial to short hairy horses I think :). Love the saddle, Gracie looks very good in it.
ReplyDeleteoooooo...nice saddle!! You look like a real buckaroo!! That looks like a great ride too!
ReplyDeleteL*O*V*E your new saddle! It does look comfy too...Gracie is the final word and if she's good-to-go... it is great!
ReplyDeleteI still don't have a saddle...been doing the "Soft Saddle" bareback pad. thing for some time...I rather like it..but sometimes miss two point galloping and trotting.
Your saddle has character early (noisy)...with it's voice. my fav saddle only came into0 voice like that after 40 years!
KK
Its a noisy saddle ok! I`m really pleased with it, fits Gracie really well. Billy Cook were great, sent them the tracings, plus measurements, and after a few e-mails? Hey presto! I paid a bit more than I wanted too, but it was worth it!
