I took a trip with my OH and daughter to Aberdeen today. Ostensibly to have a look at a possible new horse. A nice 15.2 TBxID. This filly was 7 years old, had done most things but had started bucking the last few times it had been ridden.
Well, I`m a sucker for a horse! Its only 250 miles each way , and what the hell, its a nice ride out! Anyhow, we got there, and everything looked good, horse checked out fine, saddled her, and after some preliminary checks, got on board! A mere thirty seconds later, I was leaning against the stone wall of the stable, waiting for my breathing to return! I do distinctly remember travelling through the air……………and ? Yes! Hitting the ground! Why is it, that age does not help me bounce any more? So, after a quick check to see if all was intact, I got back on…………almost! As I stepped into the stirrup, off she went again, arched back, kicking like an idiot!
But once bitten?…………..Nice horse, shame about the attitude. Plenty of tail swishing, ears pinned etc. So its still with the current owner, who did say it bucked once or twice before? Really?
My shoulder hurts like hell, my left ribcage is in a mess and I must remember to …………….stay away from horses like this!
Now whats the doctors phone number?
