A Relevant Header

I decided to alter the Header to one more compatible with the current climatic conditions that are prevailing at the moment!  Tonight, we had Hail and Rain, Wind and heavy cloud. The only thing missing was a Thunderstorm with St Michael riding in front of the Four Horse men of the Apocalypse!

So there we are, nothing to do, or say any more. Its official, this year is the second wettest on record, since records began!  God help us, while I have been writing, I have just seen my neighbours house float by the living room window, I knew it was them because they were hanging out their bedroom window waving.  What made it worse, was the offshore Lifeboat came past too!

I have always been pragmatic about the weather here in the British Isles, as  there is nothing more indecisive than our weather, some days you can have all four seasons in one day!   In others, brilliant sunshine, but mostly it pisses down.  In fact it always pisses down!  I know there are others out there, begging for rain, drought stricken lands parched and cracked by months of constant hot winds and sunshine. You have my sympathy, but what I would give for those weeks of dry unending sunshine.  My biggest issue once again this year, has been the repetition of last years bout of Rainscald. I thought it was licked, but not so. It has returned, although later than last year, so I must have gotten something right. Despite rugs and good ones at that, the scabs and attendant loss of hair,  has my horses looking like  refugees from an Alopecia   Clinic!  But I will endeavour to endeavour.

With the coming of “Auld Years Night”, I am hoping for a change.  Might it be the weather, or something more realistic, I hope that the coming year will be less miserable for most, more happier for most and a lot more prosperous for all. I am not one for grudges, but I still cant forgive the Bankers! (sorry God!)

Finally, my state of mind has become a greater place to be, if that makes sense, not that I was insane or anything, but it has become a happier place to be, things have ironed out, and the past has become something to visit, not live.

I love my horses, without them I would not be whole, thats a fact, they impart to me a complete sense of reality, that honesty of purpose, not requiring anything except truth. So there is a lesson for us all, pity Politicians cant apply it.

A Very Happy new Year To You All

  2. A happy new year to you and yours! Perhaps, in 2013, you can get a more appropriate amount of rain (less) and we also can get more so our drought can be remedied. Things seem to be where they aren't needed . . .

  4. Happy New Year to you too! We are trying to stay optimistic but this weather really beats you down... I'm so glad to have the mules and pony though, at least they force us to get outdoors, think half the country has spent the last year hiding inside. Here's to a 2013 of sun and fun :-)

  5. Happy New Years!
We normally live in one of those drought areas and I would not change it for anything, this year we have had more rain than I can ever remember and I hope we go back to normal dry conditions next year

  6. Oh, my.... my heart goes out to you and Gracie, that one picture brought it home. I hope and will pray that you get some dryness and the ground dries out and the rain rot goes away. Keep blogging... please... it's a touch of the Isles and a pleasure to read. Happy New Year, will think of all my blogging friends.

  7. Got webbed feet yet? I sympathize, rainy weather can be very depressing. Take lots of vitamin D, and get a full spectrum light to fool you into thinking there is some sunshine somewhere on earth.
Or better yet, take a vacation to somewhere sunny. All winter.
Happy New Year, hope it brings sunny days aplenty and lots of good rides.
