A Quickie!

It was a chance I decided to take. My OH off to do what OH`s do, and the horse was looking over the stable door!

Quick saddle up, and away we went just down the road from the house, and within half a mile, we are surrounded by space and tracks, fields, well, countryside really. I thought I`d show you this anyway, its an old Mansion not far from us, Gracie and I are standing in the Entrance Hall! Its huge!

Long since empty.

The shot above, is of where we were standing. Inside that Porch.

Onward and upwards as the say! These tracks run right across the old estate, and are still open to use.

This is the bridge across the nearby river, that water splash is an old fish race,  there used to be a Victorian fish farm here.

After this it was back home. short but sweet, Grace to her Feed and some veggie oil, me to a nice bit of Bacon and Eggs!

  1. It doesn't have to be a long ride to be a good ride! You seem to have some good areas to ride close by. I have to trailer my horse to find good trails.

    1. We are lucky in that respect. But the main reason that allows us free range across land. is the Right to Roam Act of 2003. That came into force in England. but in Scotland, we have always had the right to pass without fear, across any land.

  5. Makes me wonder about the people who used to inhabit that old house, what happened to them, etc.

    1. Well, as a matter of interest, they still own the estate, but, during the 1950`s, when the elder patriach died, the estate was saddled with death duties. These ran at 95% in the pound! At the time. So land was sold, and the roof of the big house was "blown" off, to reduce the bill!

  6. Sounds like a good ride, I am so looking forward to less snow on the ground so I can ride outside without falling on the ice
