It all started a couple of weeks ago. I knew my blogging was getting less, and although i wanted to blog, I found it becoming more of a chore, than a pleasure. I also knew my eyes were starting to cause me problems.
It began with the 1:25000 scale maps. (Thats 2 and one half inches to the mile, for us Imperial die hards!) Its one of the largest scale maps available over here. I couldnt see the writing! The small stuff, I was having to hold the damn map at arms length! Not the way to do it! Then there was my glasses, I was needing another prescription, 6 months after the last one! All at £350 (pounds) a pop! Things were getting bad.
Even writing the blog was a real effort, as I was making so many typo`s! After a while I`d give up, have a coffee, and try again! The headaches? It was never ending, work was suffering, every thing was getting me down.It even got to the stage where I was starting to drive by “feel!” Lol!
I`d heard about all the possibilities, Bi focals, stronger glasses, etc. Then, and I dont watch that much tv, my OH pointed out the Laser surgery thingy! Well by this time, I was really frustrated with myself. So last week I ventured into the world of Laser Eye Surgery.
It was really quite fascinating, computers, graphs, bright lights, coloured eye mapping? Well, anyway. Finally, a very nice lady showed me into a small room, and squirted some drops into my eyes, and, after I had done the “wall of death dance” around the room! She began to tell me to look through this and then that. Lastly she said to me, “ Your eyes are pretty poor, try this last view of the eye chart?” At that a lens dropped into place before my eye.
“Bloody hell!”………..That was my first expletive, followed by gasps of amazement. She said, “Can you read the bottom line of letters?”
I replied, “Made in England”. I was stunned at how sharp and clear my vision was. She explained that this was how my eyes would be after Laser treatment. I was flabbergasted!
So next week, Tuesday the 27th Sept, I will have the surgery. At this moment I am excited. Looking forward to it.
I shall finally be able to ride the horse, and know where I am going! I shall be able to find my zip, in a hurry! Ah! Bliss!
Ps. My close up reading will not alter that much, but all the medium and long vision will be perfect.
