Lest We Forget.

Today is just another day to most. But for others, it will be the one day, when all else stops, time will stand almost still, and thoughts will turn to those who are no longer with us. I have been reminded of an old poem.  I shall put it here.   As I grow older, I feel it more, I am alive, and thank God for that, but I shall always shed more than one tear for those that are no longer with us.

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scare heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead.  Short days ago,

We lived, felt dawn, felt sunset glow,

Loved and were loved; and now we lie

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe;

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

We live, because they gave.

  2. One of my all time favorite poems, and am reminded of it every year when our vets sell Poppies. I think there are many that do not know what the poppies stand for. Did you know that in Kansas City there is a World War One Museum... and you walk over a field of poppies to get into it. We have been there numerous times.
