A Case of Fate.

Its not something I really believe in. That is until now.   Last Saturday, I was getting ready to take part in the Jubilee celebrations. As some of you may know, or not,  I have served  my country. They say its a small world? It truly is!  I was watching my OH, turning the car, ( and why not?) and as she did her three point turn, (no damage!)  A large guy stride a harley drove towards me.  As I waved my wife off, the rider pulled in to the verge, switched off the engine of his bike and removed his rather Gothic helmet.

He smiled and began asking about the fishing rights hereabouts. he was very pleasant and after a few minutes I noticed an emblem on his jacket.

Most countries have small, and sometimes forgotten wars, as soon as I saw this tattered emblem it all came flooding back to me.  Without hesitation, I queried the badge. It turned out that we served in that war, and indeed on the same timescale! He was the same age as me and!!!!  Here is the weird bit! He only lived a few miles from where I was born and brought up!! How cool is that?

So after a couple of hours catching up, many cups of coffee, and some laughter, we bade farewell.  It was a remarkable meeting.

We of course swapped details, and swore to keep in touch, whether we do is irrelevant, what is important, is that  I got to talk to a like minded person, and that is a real treat!

  1. You need "coincidences" like this every now and then to revitalize your sense of wonder.

    1. Hi KD! Thanks for that, its really quite unnerving! Today everyone say to think on a global scale, when in fact what really is true, is that we are all bound together.
