Back in the Saddle.

What is it about riding horses?………Does anyone out there, have an answer?…..Probably not. But then again, probably yes!…..This last month has been a very trying time, however, my good lady, has finally been given the all clear, re her heart and other illnesses. We got the news last Tuesday, I was so overjoyed, I bought a fine bottle of Aberlour Single Malt. As my OH doesnt partake, it was a good choice!

However, as the night wore on, I became tired and confused, then had to slide into my bed. Why is that? ….Why does one slide into bed, when tired and confused?  Anyway I digress. My OH has had a great weight lifted from her shoulders, and mine, she has kept her job, which was under threat, and with all this, we dont know quite what to do now!  There is nothing to sort out, nobody to write too, argue with and generally anoint them with vulgar terms.  That , and all this has caused me to lose some interest in riding. I was lost!

However, a friend phoned last night, “Shall we go riding tomorrow?” I thought for a millionth of a nano sec/ and said yes! What else.

I can only say this, it was fabulous!  Absolutely Brill!  I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I even took the camera along!   But my friend is not the most careful of people, and is shall we say, “Cack-Handed!”  The camera now lies in several pieces, actually thousands!  Somewhere down a serious hill side. It contained ………well? Whats the point, they are gone!  I was disappointed, but in all honesty, I couldnt blame my friend. It wasnt her fault.  Besides, I was looking at new cameras!  Maybe next time.

So today was a good day, I felt back in the saddle, and with slightly more motivation.  Even Gracie was feeling better.I thought they were behind me!

  1. Good news (cameras being replaceable). As the saying goes, "Malt does more than Milton can to justify God's ways to man." And so life goes on...

  2. I did a lot of horseback riding in my younger years. I'm envious of you. I can't wait to get back in the saddle again, literally!

Though as kids, we were more likely just to jump on board bareback with just a bridle and rope for reins. Lots of great memories, for sure!

  3. Congrats on the good news! I am a bourbon girl myself but if I ever make it your way you must introduce me to scotch...

Losing a camera is a great excuse to buy an iPhone, IMO! ;)

  6. Glad to hear the OH is well, what a load off both your minds. I do understand about the riding. I do need a kick up the bum some days, especially now it's windy and wet, but I am learning just to put on a waterproof and get on with it - I'm always as high as a kite when we get back. Sorry about the camera, I'd be devastated if anything happened to mine.

  9. Thanks for visiting. I have a lot of admiration for the Albanwr (Scotchman). I worked for one during calving season last year. He was in his 36th year of raising purebred Angus cows which are quite popular in Alberta. This area has many Scottish immigrant descendants. It was a tough country to begin with and only the tough Scots survived it.

Your blog is quite interesting to me. I heard my dad talk about the old Roman roads in Wales. It was interesting to travel with you on one. I'll be stopping by now and then to see a place close to the old country.

  10. Welcome to the blog! lovely to have you along. I have a friend who is a member of the Luing Cattle Society. I believe they are exported to Canada. The Angus is`nt too popular here any more. Dont know why. But its greta to here from you. A lot of lowlanders here left for Canada, after the clearances.
